Extra Dimensions in Our Universe, Part 1 /4

First of a four-part series on extra dimensions in our universe. What???

This has major ramifications on how we view and understand not just our world but the spiritual world too. I’ll lay the groundwork in this post.

The science fiction series I’m writing deals with inter-dimensional travel. What is that you might ask?

What sparked my interest in the subject was an article I read many years ago. It stated that space-time consists of the three spatial dimensions we are all familiar with: length, width and height—and many more.

TEN space dimensions in fact.

And that adding extra dimensions makes many of the physical laws of the universe work better--

such as why gravity is such a weak force.

Hugh Ross, physicist and mathematician, spoke about these extra dimensions is at a conference at

Bel Air Presbyterian Church one night. He explained that when Jesus Christ entered the locked upper room after He rose from the dead, His body existed in SIX spatial dimensions and Ross said he had the math to prove it. Happily Ross did not subject us to his calculations, but explained the subject in easy to understand terms.

Ross said that for a physical object--Jesus’ body which the disciple Thomas nicely proved was physical when he stuck his hand in Jesus’ side—to pass through another physical object—such as a wall or the locked door of the upper room, required 3 x 3 = 6 space dimensions.

Jesus’ 3-D body X solid 3-D wall = 6 space dimensions

When the Lord said His thoughts and ways are higher than ours, this starts to get mind-boggling.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9 NASB)

I know the Lord is speaking morally here, but what if there's even more to it?

Since the Lord made the universe and He exists outside it, He must exist in even more than ten dimensions—ones we cannot perceive.

Job said were the Lord to pass by him, he would not even know!

“Were He to pass by me, I would not see Him; Were He to move past me, I would not perceive Him. (Job 9:11 NASB)

Are we supposed to play around with these extra dimensions? Hard to say. It could be incredibly dangerous. If it is part of the secret things then I would say, no.

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law. (Deuteronomy 29:29 NASB)
